What is a handheld laser welding machine?

The working principle of handheld laser welding machine is to use high-energy laser pulse to locally heat the material in small areas. The energy radiated by the laser is guided to the internal diffusion of the material through heat transfer, and the material is melted to form a specific molten pool.

The special advantage of laser heat source is that it has extraordinary heating capacity and can concentrate a large amount of energy on a small action point.

Therefore, it has the characteristics of high energy density, heating concentration, fast welding speed and small welding deformation, and can realize the rapid connection of thin plates.

When the power density on the laser spot is large enough (> 106w/cm2), the metal is heated rapidly under the irradiation of the laser, its surface temperature rises to the boiling point in a very short time, and the metal gasifies.

The metal vapor leaves the surface of the metal molten pool at a certain speed to produce additional stress, which reacts on the molten metal and makes it sag downward, resulting in a small pit under the laser spot.

With the heating process, the laser can be directly injected into the pit bottom to form a slender “small hole”.

When the recoil pressure of metal vapor is balanced with the surface tension and gravity of liquid metal, the small hole will no longer go deep.

When the spot density is large, the small hole will run through the whole plate thickness to form a deep penetration weld.

The small hole advances in the welding direction with the light beam relative to the workpiece.

The metal melts in front of the small hole, flows around the small hole to the rear, and solidifies again to form a weld.

It is a new welding method, mainly for the welding of thin-walled materials and precision parts, and can realize spot welding, butt welding, overlap welding, seal welding, etc.

The handheld laser welding machine is mainly used for laser welding of long-distance and large workpieces.

During welding, the heat-affected area is small, which will not cause workpiece deformation, blackening and weld beading.
